“The god mankind has prayed to for thousands of years, God that everything is bound with, this God exists as nothing other than time itself“.
Dark, a must-watch masterpiece, tries to underscores why we should not undermine the miracle of time. Every paradox associated with time, whether you believe it or not, holds the same question within…WHEN. But why to consider time as par with God? One may say time is the creation of God Himself, then why fall for such idiotic comparison. Nevertheless, what if I ask– ” when did God create time?”
Anyway, leaving the inextricable god and time aside, let’s feel the beauty of darkness.
Directed by Baran bo Odar, Dark is a German sci-fi thriller that demands your quality time for the mind-freaking journey through Time. No doubt it should be placed among the best time-travel story-lines ever. A satisfying labyrinth-hunting, as you go deep in the story Dark would absolve you of your finite imaginations. So, the following are the three reasons you should give it a try.
What you know is not the end of knowledge.
There’s a famous German phrase, “Leben ist kein Ponyhof”. It means Life is no pony farm, that is, “life is not a child’s play”; it’s full of suffering and pain. Adam, one of the central characters, notes– “pain is his vessel, desire his compass. It is all that a man is capable of”.
But, they say, changing perspective can change your life. And, that’s exactly you will witness in Dark– a light. It’s full of philosophical lessons you may not want to forgo.
Of course, the story itself
Everything happens for a reason or it might be a reason for something else to happen, but it can’t be denied that it has happened from something which itself has born from something else, and so on ad Infinitum. Dark’s story goes on to follow an apparently endless loop. That is why in season 1 when Elizabeth( remember the names, for you have to get back on them later.) kisses her mother on the forehead, it seems usual at first; later it turns out that her mother is actually her daughter. Starting with an endless loop of time, Dark ends with something out of the world that makes it worth watching.
The best thing about Dark is it never misleads you, rather it makes you think you are going off track. So, you better watch it with a pen and paper.
Science, theology, religion, and philosophy must be balanced for the sake of peace.
Dark shows how these sisters together can bring peace and tranquility; ignoring any of them is ignoring the peace. Therefore, when Claudia says’ ” there are moments when we must understand that the decisions we make influence more than just our own fates”, harmony between these sisters makes more sense.
Dark has everything in its kitty to amaze you; the way it has knitted the plot, no doubt it is one of the best sci-fi shows ever made. From bootstrap paradox to Quantum entanglement; hopelessness to paradise, you will learn there can never be light without darkness. Believe me, you are going to experience the unknown. Do not make it a missed opportunity. It’s like a shooting star that comes once in a lifetime. At the end of the day, ask yourself– when was the last time you questioned your strongest belief or are you still dwelling in Dark??
